RM60,000 for the less fortunate

DURING the month of Ramadan the less fortunate should not be forgotten

Wednesday October 3, 2007, DURING the month of Ramadan the less fortunate should not be forgotten. This was the message conveyed to those present during the Malam Satu Harapan 2007 (MSH 2007) Ramadan gathering organised by Cyber-view Sdn Bhd (CSB), the landowner of Cyberjaya at De'Seri Endon Puspanitapuri in Putrajaya.

CSB managing director Redza Rafiq said as part of their corporate responsibility they decided to organise a charity dinner to collect funds that would go towards those in need.

The MSH 2007 charity dinner raised RM60,000 and this will be channelled to 100 orphans from five homes and to 20 single mothers who have raised their families through sheer hardship.

“The funds will be distributed to the recipients through the Sepang Welfare department which is responsible for identifying the single mothers and the homes,'' said Redza.

He said CSB's mobile unit had personally visited the recipients after they had received the list from the Welfare Department to enable them to make personal contact.

“We have always received a lot of support from both the corporate sector and individuals every year. It is good to know there are people who are willing to share a little bit of their wealth with those who are not as lucky as them, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, added Redza.

Deputy Finance Minister II Datuk Dr Awang Adek Husin, who received the mock cheque on behalf of the Sepang Welfare department, said he was touched by the huge turnout.

“Tonight is meaningful not just for the recipients but also for the givers,'' said Dr Awang
