The Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) and software solutions provider SAP Malaysia
CYBERJAYA: Wednesday October 3, 2007, The Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) and software solutions provider SAP Malaysia want to draw several “aces” from the pack of ICT (information and communications technology) companies in the country.
To help them do this, they have launched the MSC Malaysia – SAP ACE (Accelerate, Catalyse and Empower) programme, which is aimed at taking local ICT companies to the international marketplace.
MDeC chief executive officer Datuk Badlisham Ghazali said the ACE programme affirms its commitment under the MSC Malaysia software initiative to nurture Malaysian ICT companies and transform them into global players.
“This will be done by equipping them with world-class capabilities and increasing their competitiveness through software quality and capability programmes, technical partnering and certification with technology leaders, and the creation of intellectual property,” he said.
Badlisham said MDeC expects to contribute RM5mil to the programme's funding.
Companies participating in the ACE programme will have access to a SAP Enterprise SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) Innovation Centre, which will enable them to develop, test and demonstrate new solutions on the SAP Netweaver platform.
NetWeaver is an application builder from SAP for integrating business processes and databases from a number of sources. Service Oriented Architecture, meanwhile, is a design for linking business and computational resources to achieve the desired results for consumers.
According to SAP Malaysia country manager Anne Abraham, the SAP Enterprise SOA Innovation Centre will be built by the end of the year at one of the country's cybercities. No other details were made available.
Badlisham said he hopes that 10 companies will graduate from the programme by September next year.
MDeC has launched similar MSC Malaysia initiatives — with Microsoft Corp in March and with IBM Malaysia last week.
More of such programmes are in the pipe line, according to MDeC.
